Celeste drew back from the window to face Lord Peregrine, barely able to contain her astonishment. ‘I can’t imagine what he’s talking about?’ Her voice sounded choked with embarrassment to her own ears.

With a brief caress of her cheek, Lord Peregrine leaned further out of the window to address the young man. ‘Miss Rosington is a little behind the news, my good people. She’s only just regained consciousness, so I haven’t in fact yet asked her the question that brought me to her bedside.’ He turned and fixed Celeste with a level gaze, adding in a murmur, ‘The question that I intended to ask shortly and with all due ceremony.’

‘Well, ain’t no time like the present!’ the redheaded urchin called out, his thumbs jammed in his waistband, while the tow-headed lad beside him shouted, ‘Go on then, ask ‘er! Yer made enough noise all about London Town yesterday when you were singing ‘er praises and shouting down them wicked creatures that wanted her to look bad.’

Celeste stared. There were no words to coherently address the myriad of questions she had for Lord Peregrine. But as he angled his face towards hers, the softening of his aesthetic features a prelude to what she knew was coming, she was more than ready for the words that followed: ‘Celeste, my darling, in case you haven’t already realised it, the entire reason for my coming here today was to ask you to marry me.’

She closed her eyes to receive his kiss, her lips forming the only answer she knew would make her happy, while her ears thrilled to hear the cheer of the crowd outside shout their approval.

  The Thief

  Allison Butler

From Allison Butler, bestselling author of The Healer, comes a sexy Scottish romance about a man in search of a bride, a woman in search of a home and an inconvenient attraction that can’t be denied.

To fulfil his father’s dying wish, Border laird Lachlan Elliot must marry and sire a legitimate heir, cementing his family’s name in the tumultuous borderlands. But his marriage will be one of convenience.

Lachlan has no time for the pain and betrayal of love, and his land and position must always come first. So even when the spirited thief he catches stealing his horse turns out to be breathtaking—and appropriate—he vows to marry her, bed her, but never love her.

Kenzie never wanted an arranged marriage, but to be forced to wed the domineering laird who catches her thieving from his lands is even worse. Feisty, strong-willed and determined to make her own way, Kenzie may have no choice but to agree to the marriage, but she will never give up her independence. Lachlan may own her body, but he will never own her heart.

The Journal of a Vicar’s Wife

  Viveka Portman

The final instalment in Viveka Portman’s sexy, sinful Regency Diaries sees an unhappy wife desperately seeking love—and her taciturn husband who doesn’t know how to reach her.

My husband, though I do not doubt his goodness, does not love nor want me. He married me for pure convenience. He needed a bride and I was the one offered to him. Thus I find my pleasures where I may…

Mrs Maria Reeves has been married for six years. Six long, lonely years. She craves love and affection, but married to a handsome but pious vicar she receives little in the way of earthly pleasures. The Reverend Vicar Frederick Reeves is a man of principle and morals, and is more likely to provide his wife with suggested Bible readings than carnal knowledge.

If her husband will not please her, then she will find a man who will.

But infidelity doesn’t come naturally to the vicar’s wife. Though Maria finds herself getting the sexual pleasure she desires, she also finds herself emotionally frayed and unhappy. To make matters worse, in the small village of Stanton there are always people watching, and Maria discovers that some secrets are impossible to keep. What will her upright husband do when he discovers that Maria has broken not only one of the commandments, but her vows to him?

  Chieftain In The Making

  Fraces Housden

The award-winning Chieftain series continues in a new, full-length novel about duty, determination and the power of love to heal all wounds.

Rob is the McArthur heir and is determined to prove himself, a resolve that leads to his capture in a battle on the wrong side of the Borders where he is held for ransom at Wolfsdale. He never expects to fall in love with Melinda La Mont, his Norman captor’s daughter, but payment of the ransom means their separation.

And though Rob may have lost his heart, he has kept his head and his secrets: La Mont’s manor belonged to his grandfather and Rob knows all of its mysteries.

It takes another battle and the death of the Scottish King to return Rob to Wolfsdale and Melinda. Abduction and capture is the only way to bring Melinda back into his life—and his bed. But she comes with a surprise: twin sons, and an anger that Rob cannot seem to calm. When Melinda reveals that her father considers her sons—his grandsons—his heirs, and will stop at nothing to bring them home, Rob is forced to reconsider his rash decisions, and take responsibility for his actions both in the past and in the present.

With both his family and his land at stake, Rob must decide between the passion of a child and the responsibility of a man, and risk that his love is enough to keep Melinda, and the children he never knew existed, by his side.

  The King’s Man

  Alison Stuart

The second in a tantalising trilogy from award-winning author Alison Stuart, about warriors, the wounds they carry and the women that help them heal.

London 1654: Kit Lovell is one of the King’s men, a disillusioned Royalist who passes his time cheating at cards, living off his wealthy and attractive mistress and plotting the death of Oliver Cromwell.

Penniless and friendless, Thamsine Granville has lost everything. Terrified, in pain and alone, she hurls a piece of brick at the coach of Oliver Cromwell and earns herself an immediate death sentence. Only the quick thinking of a stranger saves her.

Far from the bored, benevolent rescuer that he seems, Kit plunges Thamsine into his world of espionage and betrayal—a world that has no room for falling in love.

Torn between Thamsine and loyalty to his master and King, Kit’s carefully constructed web of lies begins to unravel. He must make one last desperate gamble—the cost of which might be his life.
